Original poem by the composer. The Lizard Call is taken from Persian history, from the early days of the Zoroastrian religion (VERY freely rewrought). Ahriman, the personification of evil, enlists the lizards of the world to attack, defeat, and dine on the holy fish defendig Ahuramazda's Tree of Life. The musical antecedents are Elvis and Helter Skelter.

             The Lizard Call

    Lizards, do you hear the lizard call? 
        Come one come all. 
    Lizards, do you hear the lizard call? 
        Slither in, come crawl. 
            Come to the maul. 

    Come one, come all, roll out your reel,
    Prosecute your dinner without appeal;
       I see a will-o-the-wish rising in your fate,
          A date with a plate.   What is it? 
               Fish! 

    Come one, come all, come alligate,
    It ain't illegal to salivate
       At the thought of a dish, at the smell of a meal -
          Not veal, get real: I smell 
               Fish! 

    No toad, no hopster, no lobster, no shrimp,
      I said no shrimp, they crimp our style.
    And what's our style?  Reptile! 
      Be reptilian like a seh seh seh nake.  

    
    Come one, come all, creep open your creel,
    And inform you dinner how you feel;
       I see a will-o-the-wish rising in your fate,
          A date with a plate.   What is it? 
               Fish! 

    Come one, come all, crodo-dilate,  
    Expand your jaws and salivate 
       At the thought of a dish, at the smell of a meal -
          Not seal, not eel: I smell ... what is it? 
               Fish! 

    I hear a hish... what is it? 
        Fish! 
    I feel a pish... what is it? 

    If you are a fissilingual lizard and you've got a forked tongue,
       Then come, come, come. 

    Come leap in, don't be late,
      Don't wait, don't hesitate.
    You are the hub of the firmament, take the wheel
       Of this very evolutionary reptomobile,
            The earth!
